My 93 Corrado SLC
I purchased my 93 Corrado in January of 2002. I'm the fifth owner.
I love my Corrado. I can't imagine driving another American or Japanesse made car again.

Pros
- Drives like a bat out of hell on rails. I have never driven a vehicle that handled as well as my Corrado. I actually started looking forward to the commute to and from work knowing I would drive my beloved Corrado.
- Fast - 174HP and 168ft/lb can only mean joy joy happy happy. I have to be carefull I don't lean on the gas too much - 110mph comes up pretty quickly and she's still pushing me into the seat. The VR6 has a broad HP bell curve with a quick response to get you upto speed quickly and keeps you pressed to the seat even at the high end.
Cons
- Fuel cost - At 19mpg city and 25mpg highway it gets expensive to fill up the 18gal tank.
- Parts cost - Egads! Don't buy a SLC if you want a cheap car to tinker with - everything is expensive.
- Maintenance - She's 10 years old and needs constant TLC. Nothing major yet, but I can only expect the worst with 120K on the current engine.
- Sunroof - I doubt there is a Corrado on the road today with a functioning stock sunroof. Mine only tilts. Someday I'll put a Passat moonroof in.
- Windshield Wipers - The stock wipers really reak. Expect stuttering and poor performance.
- Headlights - Stock headlights are too weak - upgrade to Euro.
- Turn signals yellow and crack - upgrade to glass
- Fog lights - stock plastic fog lights crack - upgrade to glass
Recommendation
Only buy a Corrado G60 or SLC if you are willing to give the love it deserves. If you keep your Corrado happy, she will do the same for you - love begats love.
If you are not willing keep your Corrado in TLC then please please sell it to someone who will. There far too few of these gems on the road and they are getting fewer each year.
If you are looking for a reliable VW don't buy a Corrado, get a Gulf.
