040402 Nothing heard on trasponder & chirpy beacon

Suggestions on the amsat-bb mailing list, by Dave Guimont and seconded by Andrew Glasbrenner, say that RS-15 maybe dead. No-one can confirm hearing from RS-15 on the downlink transponder. The beacon is sounding but it appears to have a "chirpy" sound as if the oscillator maybe flucuating with power.

I've started listening to the beacon since March 20, 2004. I guess I've only heard the definite chirpy version. Too bad - I wanted to work this bird.
0404220527Absolutely nothing heard the whole pass. No beacon at all. This pass was in the eclipse.
