I2C Option

Pros

  • Allows many interface options
    • PIC w/I2C support
    • Serial
    • USB
  • Allows easy addressing
  • Wide varity of support chips available

Cons

  • Don't know much about it, but I don't know alot about many things
  • Bus length issues?

Thoughts

  • Could use 28 segment LED driver/GPIO chip to handle 12 port switching module with 12 lines for driving relays and 12 lines for sensing toggle buttons for manual overriding of relay state.
  • Could build a simple module to control AZ/EL rotors using I2C 10 or 12 bit A-D converters. Relays could be driven by six bit GPIO chips.
